We'll need to make a few selections for your finished basement - here are a few resources to help out:
Shower Valves
The simplest and most economical valve option would be the Delta MultiChoice Universal Valve. This shower valve is compatible with over 300 different Delta trim configurations and finishes. Almost everyone can find something they like. Also, by choosing the MultiChoice Valve, you have plenty of time to select the cosmetic trim component, because it's not installed until the very end of the project.
Also, many of the trim options have matching faucets and bathroom hardware collections.
If you're unable to find a Delta product that you like, here's another great resource.
Bathroom, Kitchen & Bar Faucets
The simplest approach to bathroom faucet selection would be to choose a collection. You can start with a faucet you like and then find the matching shower valve and bathroom hardware to complete the collection - or the other way around. Also feel free to mix and match components...
For kitchen and bar faucets, you can just pick something you like! Here's a good place to start for Kitchen Faucets and another for Bar Faucets.
Note: A kitchen faucet will work just fine for a bar area - bar faucets are sometimes just a little shorter.
Bathroom Hardware & Shower Accessories
Just like the shower valve and bathroom faucet selection, a collection is your simplest approach to bathroom hardware selection as well. As mentioned above, even if you start with a towel bar that you like, there's a good chance an accompanying collection of faucets and accessories are available in the same style.
Recommendation: Shower shelves are a modern and economical alternative to the older style tile shower niches of the past. Tiled shower niches are labor intensive and can be costly for that reason. These Schluter Shelves look sharp and are a cost effective shower storage solution.
Bathroom & Bar Area Lighting
Most of the lighting requirements for your finished basement project will be covered by varying sizes of recessed can lighting. However, at a minimum, you'll probably want to select a light for over the bathroom sink and perhaps lighting for the bar or kitchen area as well.
For both Bathroom Lighting and Bar Area Lighting, Build.com has great options. If you can't find something there, places like Home Depot & Lowes are good local resources as well.
For specialized or custom lighting requirements, we'd recommend Ray Lighting Center in Novi.
Countertops & Sinks
Once the cabinets have been installed, the countertop installers will need to get started with their templating - so we'll need to have the countertop material selected by that point.
Our countertops and sinks are installed and purchased through Granite Creations. For material selection, you can visit them at 34150 W Nine Mile Road, Farmington MI 48335.
If Granite Creations doesn't have what you're looking for, we can also purchase our countertop material through MSI Countertops & Flooring located at 30150 Wixom Road, Wixom MI 48393.
Cabinets
The simplest and most economical approach to cabinet selection would be to choose from one of the semi-custom cabinets options we have available. These all wood construction cabinets include slow close doors & drawers, durable finishes, adjustable door & drawer faces and a variety of styles to choose from. We'll provide you with cabinet doors samples to help build a palette of materials, paint colors and hardware finishes for your project.
We can also design and build custom cabinets and bathroom vanity bases in our cabinet shop. You can design your own cabinets and select from a large variety of wood species and finishes.
Tile & Flooring
Most customers choose LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) flooring to use a the primary flooring throughout their finished basement. LVT is extremely durable, completely waterproof, cost effective and available in a variety of styles and finishes. We recommend LifeProof LVT Flooring.
Normally carpet is used on the stairs and is also an option for bedrooms: FloorSource Wholesale Carpet
Porcelain, ceramic and natural tiles are great for the shower and depending on the project, can also be used on the bathroom floor. Daltile of Farmington Hills is a great place to shop for all types of tile.
Paint
Experimenting with a palette of materials and paint colors is a great way to assemble the finishing touches for your space. Combining cabinet, hardware, tile, carpet and paint samples will help you settle on a particular combination. We recommend that you select your paint colors from Sherwin-Williams.
Sherwin-Williams paint products are the highest quality and offer a variety of durable finishes. For walls and ceilings we'd recommend using flat sheen Sherwin-Williams Super Paint. For doors and trim we use satin sheen Super Paint. And for specialty surfaces like heavy use and builtin cabinetry, we'd recommend Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel.
Miscellaneous
The Frigidaire Gallery Beverage Center is an economical under-counter fridge that gives you a builtin look at a fraction of the price. This KitchenAid 24" Under-counter Microwave Oven Drawer is a great microwave solution.
The Kohler Ensemble Shower is our preferred manufactured shower enclosure. It comes in 4 separate pieces which allows for easy delivery down most basement stairways. Also, the enclosure is very rigid, durable, easy to clean and a great value for the price.
